πΏ Wilderness Survival Hike at Lake Brownwood State Park
Do you know what natural resources could help you survive out in the wild? Join a park ranger for the Wilderness Survival Hike at Lake Brownwood State Park. Participants will explore the trails to learn about the plants, fungi, and other natural resources traditionally utilized by the Comanche, Apache, and other Native peoples for food, medicine, tools, and survival in the Cross Timbers region.
β¨ Nature Education & Outdoor Adventure
Led by knowledgeable rangers at beautiful Lake Brownwood State Park, these guided hikes offer a hands-on look at the rich natural and cultural heritage of Central Texas. Walk the trails, discover edible and medicinal plants, and gain practical knowledge in a fun, family-friendly outdoor setting that connects visitors with the land and the history of the areaβs indigenous peoples.
ποΈ Admission & Event Info
The Wilderness Survival Hike is free with regular park entrance fees. No reservations are required, simply arrive at the park by 1:30 PM and meet the ranger for the program. Check the Texas Parks & Wildlife website or call the park for the specific 2026 dates, as the hike repeats on selected afternoons throughout the year. Comfortable shoes and water are recommended for the trail.
